Cooking safety

If the deep fat fryer oil starts to smoke don't put the food in. Turn off the heat and leave it to cool.
  • Don't overload sockets - one plug per socket is the rule, especially if the appliance takes a lot of power (like a kettle).
  • Don't run extension cables across the floor as they can become worn.
  • Is the electric kettle leaking? This can be dangerous.

Ingredients And Procedures

1/4 c Butter, unsalted

1/2 c Honey

2 Eggs

2 tb Water, warm

1 c Fried apples; pureed in

-blender with 1/2 c. warm -water 2 1/2 c Whole wheat pastry flour

1/2 c Cornstarch

1 ts Baking soda

1 ts Cinnamon

1 ts Nutmeg, ground

1/2 ts Cloves

1 c Raisins

1 c Walnuts, chopped

Blend butter and honey well. Add eggs, water, and apples. Sift together flour, cornstarch, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves into first mixture. Blend well. Add raisins and walnuts. Pour into 3 4 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 2 1/2" loaf pans which have been buttered and lined with brown paper. Bake at 325 F. for 45 minutes.
