The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss program initially devised by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a weight reduction diet, however many zone diet followers claim that they really lose a few pounds when following it.
The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you were to control the secretion of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts the body in a balanced state which is much more wholesome than it normally is, which is known as the zone.
Sears claims that when your body is in this 'zone' it is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, does not build up fat.
The key method of the zone diet is to control the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get high levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

2 c Butter

1 1/2 c Confectioner's sugar

1/4 c Lemon juice

4 c Flour

Finely chopped nuts Assorted fruit preserves; or Pecan halves Grease cookies sheets. Cream butter and sugar. Add juice, beat well. Gradually add flour. Mix well, and chill for 2 hours Preheat oven to 350 F. Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls, roll in nuts. Place one inch apart on cookie sheets. Press thumb in center of each ball, fill with preserves or pecans. Bake for 14-16 minutes, or until lightly browned. -----
