The Atkins’ Diet
Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it allows weight reduction but still allows you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example fatty meat and butter.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, diet system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry.
You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.
The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The theory of the atkins diet is that if we consume fewer carbohydrates, we will deplete the fat we have stored and we will get rid of some fat
