The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet first suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight loss diet, however many zone diet followers discover that they actually lose weight by following the zone diet.
The 'science' behind the Zone Diet is that if you were to gain control of the secretion of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a consequence puts your body in a balanced state that is far more healthful than it normally is, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its best and, as a consequence, does not need to build up stores of fat.
The most important procedure of the system is to control the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

2 c Orange sections; about 6

- oranges 1/2 c Orange juice

2 Eggs

1 ts Vanilla

1/4 ts Almond extract

1 2/3 c Flour

1 c Sugar

1 ts Baking powder

1/2 ts Salt

1/2 ts Baking soda

1/2 c Brown sugar

1 c Walnuts; chopped

6 oz Semi sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350~. Peel and section oranges. Cut sections into small pieces. Combine the orange pieces and orange juice. Beat eggs and add oranges, vanilla and almond extract. Mix well. Sift dry ingredients together and add all at once. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 pan. Combine the brown sugar, chocolate chips and nuts. Sprinkle on top of cake. Bake at 350~ for 45-50 minutes.
